What can our churches and communities do locally to care for creation and contribute to positive change around the world?

Think Global, Act Local will bring together people from across the Dioceses of Canterbury and Rochester for a morning of inspiration, practical learning and shared ideas. We will explore the connections between our faith, the choices we make and the challenges facing communities around the world.

Dr Ruth Valerio, environmentalist, theologian, social activist and author, will be one of the conference’s keynote speakers. We will also hear from Peter Kettle, Coordinator of the Diocese of Rochester's Poverty and Hope Appeal, about how climate change is affecting food and water security in their companion dioceses in Africa. 

Attendees will be able to choose two practical workshops. Topics will include sustainable floristry, ethical and sustainable church hospitality, using data loggers to understand and reduce energy use, and caring for churchyards, memorial gardens and other green spaces. Young people from the Diocese of Canterbury will also lead an interactive activity exploring the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

There will be opportunities to meet others, exchange ideas and speak to advisers about Eco Church, energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions in churches and church halls.

The conference is being jointly organised by the Dioceses of Canterbury and Rochester and hosted by Rochester Cathedral.
